University New Members to Receive their First Degree At this August General Meeting we are having a First Degree to introduce new members from our community into our Order of the Knights of Columbus. We need to remain aware of the important process of recruiting new men into our brotherhood for the benefit of both their Christian opportunities of service and personal growth and for our council's health and to keep focused on its commitments. The candidates that we may have there are: Gary Dani; Terry Berjla; Timothy Patrick; John Peco; and Kerry Brown. Tim Walsh is a possible transfer Please be present to welcome them! Installation of Officers and Family Picnic On July 11, 1998, the Highlands Ranch Council Number 10937 held an installation of officers conducted by District Deputy Joe McAleer. This event was held in conjunction with a Council Picnic at the Highlands Ranch Recreation Center Eastridge Park. Brother Jack Doyle had made prior arrangements for the Council to utilize the barbeque and picnic areas in the park. In total, approximately fifty family members and friends attended the installation and dined on a barbeque prepared by Brother Tom Harding, and pot luck items brought by the wives of the Brother Knights. During the installation, District Deputy Joe McAleer gave special tribute to the wives and families of the Knights of Columbus who sacrifice family time in order for the Council to perform its many activities. A warm spirit of fraternalism and pride surrounded the activity, and the people in attendance appreciated both Joe McAleer and his wife Mary for their presence and support. A good time was had by all! To Fr. Bob Houlihan The Council wishes you a speedy recovery from your knee surgery. We have heard good reports that you are able to walk within the normal expectations of this procedure. We keep you in our prayers. Introducing Our New Financial Secretary Joe Huggins accepted the appointment to be our next Financial Secretary. Congratulations Joe, We will give you our fullest support. Our thanks to Gene Solome for his contribution to our council in that capacity. 1998 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE Highlands Ranch Council 10937 conducted its annual membership drive for 1998 in conjunction with a community pancake breakfast and annual bicycle drive at Pax Christi Parish, Highlands Ranch, CO. DGK Bill Reichert secured extensive recruiting information while he was in attendance at the State Convention, in order to facilitate the membership drive. Brother Reichert called Pax Christi Parish and was granted permission to speak at the three morning masses about the values and benefits of the Knights of Columbus.' On May 31", 1998, DGK Reichert addressed the parishioners at the 8:00 A.M., 9:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. masses explaining what the Highlands Ranch Knights of Columbus Council's mission is about with an emphasis on past charitable projects, community oriented projects and most especially fund raising projects for the Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House. It is noted that the Sacred Heart Jesuit priests support Pax Christi Parish and, on this date, all three masses were said by Father Richard Buhler, S.J., the Rector of Sacred Heart Retreat House. Brother Jack Doyle gave out leaflets and, along with DGK Reichert, worked the room in which the pancake breakfast was served and explained to many perspective members that the bicycle drive being conducted on the same date was just one of the many reasons to join the Knights of Columbus. It is hoped that some of the men who expressed interest will re-contact the membership committee and commit to becoming a Knight of Columbus. Colorado Special Olympics The Highlands Ranch Community Center through the High Plains Area Director, Dow Cushing, is coordinating a Special Olympics program through the new coordinator, Nicole, who works at the Eastridge Recreation Center. We have been asked for volunteer support for the bowling program. It is the same with your life insurance. Unless the individual policies you own are fitted together to form a balanced, well-planned program, they cannot possibly do what they should for you. Good money management calls for having the life insurance you own reviewed at regular intervals. In order to be financially sound, you should know exactly where you are going. My review is not designed to get you to buy more life insurance. Instead, I work your ideas and ambitions into a plan, and then organize it with your budget in a way that will bring you closer to your goals. Call me today to schedule your review.
